Oh Hail The Cross Every Day!

(Isaiah 53:5-6)  “But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

To hail means to call out or yell in order to catch attention. In other words to cheer, salute or greet; welcome. A Cross is defined as a mark, object, or figure formed by two short intersection lines or pieces or an upright post with a transverse bar, as used in antiquity for crucifixion.

Why should someone hail a cross? Christians point to the cross of Jesus Christ as a reminder that, He died an agonizingly painful death. The cross of Christ is central to the Christian faith. The most famous and arguably the most important symbol of Christianity is the cross. It represents the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ for the redemption of the world. (Romans 5:10) “For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!”

(1John 4:10)  “This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sin.”  (Galatians 3:13) “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hanged on a tree.”
(Romans 8:3) “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.”
(Hebrews 2:9) “But we see Jesus who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.”

(Isaiah 53:10) “Yet it was the LORD’S to crush Him and cause Him to suffer, and though LORD makes His life a guilt offering, He will see His offspring and prolong His days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.”
For the full satisfaction which Christ made to the justice of God for the sin of man by the blood of His cross, for the purchases, victories, and triumphs of the cross, and for all the precious benefits which flow to us from the death of the Lord Jesus.
Thank God for the cross of Christ and its full benefits. For us Christians, the cross is the intersection of God’s love and His justice to mankind, let us all hail Him every day of the year. Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen!
